Esther Rantzen’s daughter gives terminal cancer update as she admits family ‘in denial’

Dame Esther Rantzen’s daughter has issued an update on her mother’s health after the broadcaster hit out at members of the House of Lords over what she described as “blatant sabotage” of the assisted dying bill.

The television presenter, 85, has stage four lung cancer. She is one of the most high-profile supporters of the assisted dying bill, and has previously said she will not live long enough to see the proposals become law.

The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill will fail in May if it does not complete all its parliamentary stages before the end of the current session.

Rebecca Wilcox told Good Morning Britain on Friday (27 February) that her family is living in a “state of anxiety” between her mother’s scans, but Dame Esther is “surviving not only the cancer but the treatments as well.”
