According to a 2024 Caring.com survey, only 34% of Americans have an estate plan, and among those 55 and older, nearly half still haven’t created one. That’s a problem. Estate planning isn’t about how much money you have. It’s about protecting what you do have and making sure your wishes are honored. Whether you own a modest home, have a few savings accounts, or simply want to make things easier for your loved ones, having a plan in place is one of the most thoughtful gifts you can give.
