Essex police pause facial recognition cameras amid racial bias findings

Essex Police have paused their live facial recognition (LFR) technology after identifying “potential accuracy and bias risks,” a new report has revealed.

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) said in this week’s report that the police force had paused its AI-enabled systems prior to an audit, while urging other forces to regularly test their systems.
