ESPN's Michael Wilbon Says Ja Morant's Shoe is Banned in His House

During Sunday’s segment of NBA Countdown, ESPN’s Michael Wilbon weighed in on Ja Morant’s recent suspension amid a recent video of the Grizzlies point guard in which he appeared to be holding a gun.

Wilbon announced that Morant’s signature Nike shoe, which released earlier this year, was not allowed in his household, and he informed his son about the new rule, too.

“What’s going to happen now? Nike going to pull that shoe? Is Powerade going to pull that drink? I know in my house, I told Matthew, ‘You can’t have the shoe. I’m not buying that shoe. You’re not buying that shoe. Our money, as a family, is not going toward that,’” said Wilbon.

In addition to discussing his rules about the Nike Ja 1, Wilbon ripped into Morant for his antics off the court.

“We hear about four or five days, or eight days in some facility in Florida. That’s a joke. That’s PR. So, you can try to PR your way out of this through other social media forms and all of that,” Wilbon said.

Sunday’s suspension marks the second time since March that Morant has been disciplined for his off-court behavior. He was suspended eight games as a result of the previous incident, and Memphis suspended him from all team activities pending league review on Sunday.
