ESPN’s Lee Corso Predicts Outcome of Texas vs. Alabama

Lee Corso made it very clear which team he believes will win the massive early-season matchup between Texas and Alabama on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.

While ESPN College GameDay analysts Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and Pat McAfee will make their predictions for the big game during Saturday’s show, Corso predicted that the Longhorns would take down the Crimson Tide in what surely will be a raucous environment at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Herbstreit posted a video showing Corso whisper that Texas would pull off the upset and throw a curveball in Alabama’s plan of seeking a College Football Playoff national championship. Corso selected the Longhorns in part because of their kicker Bert Auburn, who kicked four field goals against the Crimson Tide in the 2022 matchup between the two teams.

“He could be the difference,” Corso said.

While Auburn notched three field goals in the Longhorns’ 37–10 victory against Rice in Week 1, Corso also teased Alabama fans about the Texas kicker’s last name, which is associated with the classic Iron Bowl between the Auburn Tigers and the Crimson Tide.

Ironically, in reference to Corso’s prediction, it was Crimson Tide kicker Will Reichard who saved the day for Alabama in last year’s matchup when he converted a 33-yard field goal to win the game 20–19, capping a heroic drive led by then-quarterback Bryce Young.

In addition to the kicking game, Corso believes that Texas had the “best looking team” physically in last year’s game against Alabama and that Steve Sarkisian has added the right pieces to the program that should give Texas a huge win that will generate positive momentum for the CFP race later on in the season.
