ESPN ranks Steelers 19th-best roster in the NFL

It might only be June but we have a pretty good idea of what every NFL roster will look like at the start of the regular season. Knowing that, ESPN took a stab at ranking NFL rosters. You can check out the full list here.

ESPN has the Steelers at No. 19 on their list and smartly notes that the season hinges on the play of quarterback Kenny Pickett. Here is what they had to say about the team:

If Pickett hits, this group gets scary quick. While Heyward is 34 years old, Pickens is just getting going and combines with Diontae Johnson to make up a strong receiver duo for the young QB. And while injuries marred Watt’s 2022 season, he remains one of the league’s truly elite defenders.

Pittsburgh is in a great position to get back into the playoffs in 2023 if Pickett takes that next step in his career. A healthy Watt, along with the team’s additions on defense puts this group back to the forefront. But it will be the offenses’ ability to put up points against these high-powered AFC offenses that will make all the difference. The Steelers ranked No. 26 in points scored last season and is the key stat Pittsburgh must improve on in 2023.
