ESPN names four Georgia Bulldogs as preseason All-Americans

The Georgia Bulldogs have the most (tied) preseason first-team All-Americans in the country. Both Georgia, Alabama and Michigan have three first-team All-American selections.

ESPN’s three Georgia players on the first-team are quarterback Carson Beck, offensive guard Tate Ratledge and safety Malaki Starks. Georgia’s one player on the second-team in pass rusher Mykel Williams.

Carson Beck is a potential No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Beck’s ability to quickly and accurately deliver the football is special. Beck completed 72.4% of his passes a season ago.

Beck losing Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey to the 2024 NFL draft is frequently discussed, but Bowers and McConkey missed nine combined games last season and were rarely both fully healthy in Beck’s first year as a starter.

“Georgia could have its best offensive line of Kirby Smart’s tenure, and Ratledge is one of the leaders of that unit after bypassing a chance to enter the NFL draft,” said ESPN’s Chris Low. Ratledge anchors an impressive Georgia offensive line that returns three starters from last season.

Georgia safety Malaki Starks is one of only four players to make 2023 and this season’s All-America first-team.

Georgia is ranked as the No. 1 team in both the US LBM Coaches Poll and the AP Poll. The Bulldogs open the 2024 college football season on Aug. 31 at noon ET against the Clemson Tigers in Atlanta.
