I know that when fans do their fantasy football drafts, they love to pick players from their favorite teams. This is a tricky proposition for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season. There is plenty of talent and potential on the offensive side of the football, but it is hard to say week to week which players will step up.
You might think that veteran wide receiver Diontae Johnson would be the one constant on the offense, and ESPN Fantasy agrees. Sort of. When they talked about regression in their latest fantasy football piece, they are talking about regression to the mean.
In the case of Johnson, that would mean he would actually improve on his 2022 numbers, which saw a significant downturn with a rookie quarterback. He went from 107 catches and eight touchdown receptions in 2021 to 86 and zero in 2023. Of all the players on the Steelers offense, Johnson and perhaps running back Najee Harris are the only sure bets in fantasy this season to be producers every week and the only ones you draft early at all.
