ESPN close to luring Troy Aikman to Monday Night Football

The rumors were plentiful. Troy Aikman to leave FOX for an Amazon “Thursday Night Football” slot.

It appears as if the Hall of Fame quarterback is on the verge of some trickeration regarding his broadcast future.

The New York Post reported Wednesday ESPN is closing in on signing Aikman, who has teamed with Joe Buck for years at FOX, as its “Monday Night Football” analyst.

Per the Post:

Aikman’s deal is not completed yet, but there is an expectation that it will be finalized. Aikman has also been courted by Amazon.

The exact figures of Aikman’s deal are not yet fully finalized, but for him to leave Fox it is expected to be comparable to or exceed Tony Romo’s 10-year $180 million with CBS.

Aikman has been wooed by Amazon. The next question would be who would be his announce partner if he does leave FOX for MNF?
