Michigan State basketball got a much-needed win over Maryland earlier this week and that has resulted in a nice little bump up in the latest batch of ESPN’s “Bracketology” from Joe Lunardi.
Lunardi has been releasing his famous “Bracketology” NCAA Tournament projections for months, and to no surprise Michigan State is in the field of 68. The Spartans are one of 8 teams Lunardi currently has dancing this upcoming March.
Check out which Big Ten teams Lunardi has listed in his latest batch of “Bracketology” below:
Illinois
Seed / Region: No. 6 seed in West Region
First Round Opponent: No. 11 seed North Carolina / Texas A&M
Indiana

First Round Opponent: No. 12 seed Oral Roberts

Maryland

Northwestern
Seed / Region: No. 9 seed in Midwest Region
First Round Opponent: No. 8 seed NC State
Purdue
Seed / Region: No. 1 seed in South Region
First Round Opponent: No. 16 seed Alcorn State / No. 16 seed Fairleigh Dickinson
Rutgers

First Round Opponent: No. 11 Boise State

Michigan State
Seed / Region: No. 8 seed in West Region
First Round Opponent: No. 9 seed Florida Atlantic
Thoughts on Draw: Michigan State’s victory over Maryland earlier this week moved them up one seed line and ultimately into a more friendly first round matchup against Florida Atlantic. The Owls haven’t lost much this year but playing a mid-major foe in the opening round is definitely better than facing a fellow major conference team. If the Spartans were to win this projected first round matchup, they’d then most likely face No. 1 seed Arizona.
