ESPN analyst Adam Schefter issues apology for tweet about Dwayne Haskins

ESPN NFL analyst Adam Schefter broke the news on Saturday of the tragic death of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins in a vehicle accident in Florida. Unfortunately, he did it with a tweet that ruffled a lot of feathers when he noted that Haskins had struggled to catch on in Washington and Pittsburgh after being a first-round pick.

Many considered this insensitive, and the backlash was such that on Monday, Schefter went on his podcast and offered a tribute to Haskins and apologize for the tenor of his tweet. He used this opportunity to remember Haskins the man and the player.

Haskins joined the Steelers just before the 2021 season and looked to be firmly in the mix to be the starting job. He would have turned 25 next month.
