Espanyol stance on Raul de Tomas sale amid Manchester United links

Espanyol admit that star striker Raul de Tomas could leave the club before deadline day amid recent links with a move to Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag's side are still looking to sign a new striker before the end of the summer, with Spain international De Tomas reportedly on their radar.

COPE say talks between the two clubs for a possible transfer have started and that the overall fee for this deal could be around £25 million. It is understood the 27-year-old has a £60million release clause in his current contract.

De Tomas could prove to be a worthy addition to a United side lacking any real attacking edge and Espanyol CEO Mao Ye has admitted the forward could leave.

Speaking to La Grada, the Espanyol chief said: "There are days left in the market. And there are always possibilities. But we have him in our squad."

De Tomas was missing from the Espanyol squad for their La Liga opener against Celta Vigo at the weekend, though his absence is believed to be down to a fitness issue rather than a transfer one.

The Real Madrid academy product has enjoyed an impressive two years at Espanyol, where he has netted 45 goals in 89 appearances for the La Liga side.
