Escape to the Chateau's Dick and Angel Strawbridge break silence after Channel 4 axe

Dick and Angel Strawbridge have broken their silence after they were axed by Channel 4.

The couple were renowned for their home renovation project, which was documented in popular show, Escape to the Chateau. Viewers were devastated when the show came to an end last year after nine series.

Channel 4 issued a statement earlier this month to announce they would no longer be working with the couple. It said: "Following a review we have taken the decision to not work with Dick and Angel on any new productions in the future."

Dick and Angel have now taken to social media to send a lengthy message to fans. They said: "Thank you for inviting us into your living rooms. You have watched our children grow up and shared our adventures. It was a Strawbridge Family decision early last year to conclude ‘Escape to the Chateau’, but we have loved every moment and, despite the many challenges, we refused to give up on our dream, and in doing so have filled the chateau with love and laughter, and, most importantly, have created the most wonderful home for our family.

They added: "We know there are lots of stories in the press right now. It’s not worth us even trying to comment or give context, because anything can be made into a good headline. We understand. There are two sides to every story and from the incredible support we have received, most of you know that.

"We are proud of who we are, and we feel we must do what we believe to be correct, that is in fact what kept Escape to the Chateau unique, and whilst we have indeed parted ways with Channel 4, we are hugely grateful to them and their teams for their support and creativity over the years.

"The future truly could not look more exciting and we thank you for your continued love and support."

Fans rushed to the comments and sent messages of support after the update.

Susie said: "It’s been so wonderful and inspiring following your journey right from the beginning x"

Kieran added: "Been a brilliant programme, thank you for inviting us all on the journey."

Heather posted: "Will miss following your journey with the Chateau but have really loved being able to follow along good luck with your future projects"
