ERODE: One person was killed and another critically injured after a gelatin stick exploded while breaking boulders for a water project near Kodumudi here on Saturday. The Malayampalayam police have registered a case and initiated an inquiry.
A police officer identified the deceased as V Kumar, 35, of Mettur in Salem district. He said the incident occurred when the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board officials were carrying out pipeline laying work for a water project under the Central government’s Jal Jeevan Mission at Mannathanpalayam village near Ganapathipalayam in Modakurichi panchayat.
