Erling Haaland will adapt ‘perfectly’ to Pep Guardiola’s style, insists Manchester City boss after Wolves win

Erling Haaland will adapt “perfectly” to Manchester City’s way of playing, Pep Guardiola has insisted.

The coach gave his first verdict on his club reaching an agreement to sign the Norwegian striker after City smashed Wolves 5-1 on Wednesday.

“It’s a decision for the club, making a good signing for the future and coming for many, many years hopefully,” Guardiola told Sky Sports.

“I’m pretty sure he will adapt perfectly to our team but it will be next season.

“I’m excited and of course I like to work with good players, the players make you a good manager. Of course he’s an incredible young talent, at a perfect age and I’m pretty sure we’ll have him to settle as best as possible.”

Kevin De Bruyne filled in up front at Molineux and hit four goals to earn high praise from his manager.

“His play in the last two or three months, especially in the Premier League, has been outstanding,” added Guardiola.

“Champions League as well, he has been our key man in the last part of the season for a long time.

“It’s not just what he creates but the goals and everything so he helps us a lot, I’m so happy because Kevin had the assists and is so generous, thinking what’s best for the team. We always try to push him to win games and score goals, and this year is his most prolific year in this sense.”
