Erling Haaland still not at Thierry Henry’s level claims Darren Bent as Arsenal icon ‘did both’

Thierry Henry was a better footballer than Erling Haaland because he could provide both goals and assists, Darren Bent has claimed.

The ex-Tottenham striker explained his position on the growing debate over whether the Manchester City star is the best forward of all-time in the Premier League.

Haaland has hit 33 goals so far in his debut season as City look to defend their crown against Arsenal’s charge.

Gunners icon Henry racked up 24 goals and 25 assists in one campaign (2002-03), leading to Bent’s assertion that he provided more of an all-round game than Haaland.

“Henry, all day every day,” he told talkSPORT.

“He’s not better than Henry. He’s not a better player than Henry yet, come on. People forget how good Henry was.

“I get [the statistics] but he’s also got 20 assists, both [goals and assists]. It’s about both. He did both, that’s my point.”

Haaland could break Alan Shearer’s Premier League record for goals in a single season when City head to Fulham on Sunday, with the Norwegian just one away from tying the Newcastle legend’s tally.
