Erling Haaland's reaction spotted as Rangers escalate Borussia Dortmund crisis

Erling Haaland failed to celebrate either of Borussia Dortmund's goals during their 4-2 loss to Rangers on Thursday night.

The German side were shocked in front of their own fans as the Glasgow outfit recorded a famous victory in the Europa League.

Dortmund dropped out of the Champions League in to Europe's secondary competition, but now far a tough task in progressing to the next stage.

They were without their talisman during the defeat with Haaland having to watch from the stands.

The Norwegian, who has scored 23 times for Dortmund this term, was sat alongside his father Alfe-Inge, but remained motionless for either of his team's goals.

At full-time he sat in the stands with his hands in front of his face before eventually exiting.

Haaland's future remains unclear despite calls from his club for an answer regarding his next move.

His release clause is due to come in to play this summer with Real Madrid and Manchester City both keen on the forward, who is set to cost around £65m.

Sky Germany reported that a crisis meeting was held following the Rangers defeat, which could have long lasting repercussions.

Hans-Joachim Watzke, Michael Zorc, Sebastian Kehl and Marco Rose discussed matters but the manager's future is not, currently, in doubt, but that could change if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Centre-half Mats Hummels spoke candidly after the game and appeared to take aim at the tactics employed.

“If you look at the Bayer Leverkusen game, we conceded four goals after unnecessarily losing the ball," he told RTL.

“That happened with the first, second and fourth goals here. I think we know what our problem is, the coach mentions it often enough.

“We play an awful lot of nonsensical football. You can sometimes win that way but sometimes lose. You will never be successful that way.”

Jude Bellingham, who scored one of Dortmund's two goals, has refused to admit defeat ahead of the second-leg.

He has talked up the return at Ibrox insisting he is up for the challenge.

The midfielder said: “There’s a bit of hope because we have the second leg and there’s not one person in that changing room that’s going to give up – and I won’t let them.

“We’re going to go there and give everything. We know how hard it’s going to be.

“For me personally, I can’t wait to play at Ibrox. It’s one of the best stadiums in Europe, in my opinion, when it’s packed on European nights. So bring it on.”
