John Stones has been added to Manchester City's injury worries after limping off as the defending champions, without Erling Haaland, defeated Everton.
Pep Guardiola was left furious with officials after a Toffees attack was allowed to play through despite Beto being offside, in a move which ended with Stones requiring treatment.
The centre-back's ankle appeared to be caught between the towering striker's knees as they tangled in what proved to be a futile battle for the ball.
Speaking to Prime Video post-match, the City boss confirmed Stones' injury "doesn't look good" after he was replaced by Josko Gvardiol having failed to run off the blow.
Guardiola provided an update of Haaland's absence before kick-off, as the Norwegian forward sat out his sixth consecutive game for the world champions.
"Still he’s not with the team," said the coach.
"He feels better with his bone [in his foot] but he hasn’t had one training session with us.
"Unfortunately December is so congested with so many games. January is a bit less congested. Hopefully in January he can come back with us."
Haaland is therefore expected to miss Saturday's visit of Sheffield United.
City, who beat Everton 3-1 after three second-half goals on Wednesday night, then host Huddersfield in the FA Cup third-round on January 7 before a Premier League trip to Newcastle six days later.
