Erling Haaland injury latest: Pep Guardiola issues update ahead of Southampton and Bayern Munich

Erling Haaland will be fit for Manchester City's Premier League game with Southampton.

The striker has trained this week and manager Pep Guardiola confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the Norway international is available.

Haaland missed last week's game against Liverpool due to a groin injury. The 22-year-old also withdrew from the international duty because of the issue. He watched from the stands as City beat Jurgen Klopp's side 4-1.

What's the latest?

Haaland is fit to play at St Mary's. Guardiola issued his verdict on Friday after the striker trained during the week. He returned to training on Thursday, after City had had three days off, and has shown no ill-effects from the groin problem that had previously sidelined him.

Guardiola said ahead of the game with the Saints: "He trained the last two days, really good. He will be ready."

Will he start at Southampton?

It remains to be seen whether Guardiola will put Haaland straight back into the side. Julian Alvarez has proved more than a capable deputy and City face Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League quarter final next week.
