Erling Haaland injury latest: Pep Guardiola hopes Manchester City star will return for Crystal Palace clash

Manchester City hope to have Erling Haaland back to face Crystal Palace next weekend after Pep Guardiola confirmed the Norwegian striker has not fractured his foot.

Haaland injured his foot in Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa and missed the 2-1 win against Luton on Sunday.

Before the Luton game, Guardiola said he did not know how long Haaland could be sidelined and said City would monitor the situation “week-by-week, day-by-day”.

But Guardiola provided further detail after the game at Kenilworth Road.

City face Red Star Belgrade in a Champions League dead-rubber on Wednesday and Haaland will miss that game at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola’s side then play Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium next Saturday in what is their last Premier League fixture until after Christmas.

They then travel to Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup.

Guardiola said: "It's not a fracture, just a stress on the bone, hopefully can be ready against Crystal Palace, if not then Saudi Arabia.

“The day after Villa he could almost not walk properly, yesterday I spoke to him saying, "I feel much better, I can walk, I have no pain," that's why we have to see how he is day by day.”

Guardiola also provided an update on Jeremy Doku, who also missed the Luton game.

“It's muscular, it's not a big, big issue like Kevin's, but we have to think about his explosivity and be careful,” said the City boss. “Maybe one week, two weeks he'll be ready again.”
