As the Reds begin to plan mission impossible against Real Madrid, it's time for your Liverpool FC morning digest on Sunday, March 12.
Erling Haaland makes Liverpool point after shock Bournemouth defeat
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland says Liverpool's defeat at Bournemouth shows the difficulty of the Premier League.
The Reds' five-match unbeaten run came crashing to end after they were humbled on the south coast earlier today. Gary O'Neil's team moved off the foot of the table with a 1-0 win given to them by Philip Billing's first-half strike.
Jurgen Klopp's side went from the highest of highs after smashing rivals Manchester United six days ago but by 3pm on Saturday, they were left with a familiar feeling on the road after being handed their seventh away defeat of the season.
Tottenham Hotspur's 3-1 home victory over Nottingham Forest opened up a six-point gap to Liverpool in the race for the top four. Further up the table, City then maintained pressure on league leaders Arsenal as they won 1-0 at Crystal Palace thanks to Haaland's 78th-minute penalty.
It was the Norwegian's 28th goal in just 26 league games since his summer switch from Borussia Dortmund and after the game he gave a mention to Liverpool, who last season ran Pep Guardiola's side close to the title.

'Not the first time' - Steve McManaman delivers brutal Liverpool verdict after Bournemouth defeat
Steve McManaman laid into the performance levels of Liverpool's players after they were embarrassed by struggling Bournemouth in a sorry 1-0 away defeat.
Jurgen Klopp's side had come into the match on the back of a stunning 7-0 victory against arch-rivals Manchester United and five consecutive Premier League clean sheets, but they left the Vitality Stadium empty-handed after Philip Billing scored the only goal of the game for the Cherries.
Mohamed Salah wasted the opportunity to earn the Reds a point when he blazed a penalty wide late on, but former Anfield star McManaman was left dumbfounded by such a below-par showing following the highs of the United result last Sunday.
When asked, after the match on BT Sport, if Liverpool simply hadn't been up to the challenge, McManaman said: "It certainly looked like that, I thought they were terrible today. Contrasting fortunes for both teams - everything Liverpool did well last week when they won at Anfield was completely the opposite today. They were lethargic, they were slow, they moved the ball sideways so many times, there was no urgency to go forwards."
