Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has referenced Liverpool’s defeat to Real Madrid.
The Reds suffered a 5-2 defeat to Madrid in their Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday night. It leaves Jurgen Klopp’s side needing to overcome a three-goal deficit in the second leg in the Spanish capital next month.
Ten Hag made reference to Liverpool’s defeat on Thursday with his comments after Manchester United’s win over Barcelona. The Red Devils claimed a 2-1 win in their Europa League round of 32 second leg at Old Trafford, to seal a 4-3 aggregate victory.

Barcelona are currently leading La Liga by eight points ahead of second placed Real Madrid. Ten Hag made reference to this fact, as well as Liverpool’s recent defeat.
"Barcelona are the leader of La Liga - eight points ahead of Real Madrid," Ten Hag told BT Sport on Thursday night.
"We have seen what Real Madrid did this week. I think it's a big win, yes, that we beat them (Barcelona)."
Ten Hag added: "We've had some good wins - Liverpool and Arsenal at home - really good wins, but I think this [is the best] over two legs, one tie."
