Erik ten Hag is set to kick off his Manchester United reign with a daunting challenge against arch-rivals Liverpool.
On Thursday, the Red Devils confirmed that the 52-year-old will become the club’s new First Team Manager, replacing interim boss Ralf Rangnick at the end of the current season. Ten Hag has earned himself a reputation as a progressive, attack-minded coach during his stint at Ajax and will now be tasked with dragging the Red Devils off the canvas.
The scale of Ten Hag’s task was made crystal clear earlier this week after United were thumped 4-0 by Jurgen Klopp’s side at Anfield. Goals from Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah condemned United to another sorry defeat, which on another night could have been even worse.
