Erik ten Hag sets three targets for Manchester United during Spain training camp

Erik ten Hag wants to see three things from his Manchester United team during their warm-weather training camp as the countdown to Premier League resumption continues.

With a pause in the domestic schedule, United have jetted out to Spain for mid-season friendlies against Cadiz and Real Betis as players are also put through their paces on the training ground. A youthful group has headed over with England forward Jadon Sancho remaining at Carrington to focus on his individual programme.

However, several first-team members have made the camp including long-serving goalkeeper David de Gea, Victor Lindelof, Donny van de Beek and fit-again Anthony Martial, who have all missed the ongoing World Cup in Qatar for different reasons with Lindelof and Sweden failing to qualify for the tournament.

United play Cadiz on Wednesday night (7pm UK time) and continue their mid-season preparations against Betis on Saturday afternoon (5pm), before the World Cup last-eight showdown between England and France begins. So what is Ten Hag looking for, exactly, from his senior players and youngsters who have headed out to Spain?

During an interview with MUFC media, Ten Hag said: "[We have] The normal objectives for every training camp, but certainly to get back into the rhythm for games. So first, fitness levels and second the way of playing, to improve on that and we are with a mixed team, so I have to talk about several objectives.

"We have a lot of young players with us, as well, and they have to support us. But they can show us what they have to offer, what their capabilities are and what their potential is, to see if they have a future."
