Manchester United favourite Louis Saha reckons the jury will be out on Erik ten Hag until he brings silverware back to Old Trafford. United have not won a trophy for coming up five seasons as they prepare to appoint the Ajax coach as their next permanent manager.
Key figures in the boardroom are yet to finalise their decision, but the Eredivisie giants expect Ten Hag to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a permanent basis. United last got their hands on silverware when Jose Mourinho led them to a League Cup and Europa League double in 2017.
Manchester Evening News revealed three weeks ago that Ten Hag was a preferred candidate for the role with his main competition coming from Mauricio Pochettino. However, it seem as though the Dutchman has edged out the former Tottenham manager.

Paris Saint-Germain coach Pochettino appears set to win French Ligue 1 this season, while Ten Hag will take home his third Eredivisie medal should his Ajax team hold off competition from PSV Eindhoven. But do they have what it takes to succeed at Old Trafford?
Speaking as part of a promotion for Boyle Sports, former United man Saha said: "Those two names are great names. You can see straight away that those guys can do great work.
"They're both good with young players, but sometimes you feel they need more experience in terms of trophies and pedigree. Pochettino did a great job at Tottenham.
"But he didn't win [trophies], so you may ask if he's able to do it at Man United. At Manchester United it's not about playing well, it's about winning trophies.
"I'm not convinced until they take the job and prove this to us. They might help them play well and develop younger players, but that does not guarantee the Champions League or the Premier League."
