Erik ten Hag sends Man United transfer warning amid potential Alexis Mac Allister Liverpool battle

Erik ten Hag has warned the rest of the Premier League that Manchester United's transfer targets are once again eager to join the club.

United are currently embroiled in a battle with Liverpool and Newcastle United for a place in the Champions League for next season and the competition may help secure targets in the summer.

Liverpool's six Premier League wins on the spin left them just a point behind Ten Hag's team. But that gap now stands at four points after United won 2-0 at home to Wolves this afternoon.

While the focus is on the fight for a top-four finish, the Red Devils, along with their rivals from the other end of the East Lancs Road, are expected to be busy in the transfer market once the window re-opens.

United have been linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane - who today equalled Mohamed Salah’s record for the most matches scored in during a Premier League season (24) - as well as Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.

Mac Allister, who won the World Cup with Argentina last winter, is also thought to be high up on Liverpool's shortlist.

"I see a big difference in comparison with last year," said Ten Hag, who has led the Red Devils to Carabao Cup glory and to the final of the FA Cup in his first season in charge at Old Trafford. "There were a lot of reservations last year when I spoke with players and now many players see the project, what's going on, the dynamic and the ambition in this project, the quality especially. They are really keen to come, I've noticed that.

"It looks like there were a lot of reservations last year, a lot of doubts when we approached players. This year, many quality players really want to come."
