Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has hailed the reaction of his players during Saturday's 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers as they look to hold off Liverpool in the fight for Champions League football.
The Red Devils responded to back-to-back defeats away to Brighton and Hove Albion and West Ham United by defeating the Midlands outfit 2-0 thanks to goals from Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho either side of half-time. The victory strengthens United's grasp on fourth place ahead of Liverpool's trip to Leicester City on Monday night.
Speaking to Manchester United's official website, Ten Hagg said of the victory: "We had to bounce back. We had two defeats, individual mistakes, with no energy. So we played slow.

"Today, we had to win and we did it. I think we played a quite good game. Hot weather and the circumstances, but the players dealt with it."
The Old Trafford outfit currently boast a four-point lead over the Reds, with Jurgen Klopp's side facing fixtures against Leicester City, Aston Villa and Southampton before the end of the campaign. United, meanwhile, will travel to Bournemouth before home games against Chelsea and Fulham.
Such a healthy advantage means Liverpool would need United to drop points in at least two of their remaining three games and win their own if they are to secure a seventh consecutive season in the Champions League.
"We have to see from game to game now," Ten Hag added. "The next game is going to be tough as well. We have to prepare for that very well. Every game is difficult. We have to get ready for the game.
"It's not an easy life, you have to be fully ready for every match, every battle in the game. That is what we're working for."
