Erik ten Hag named Premier League Manager of the Month after Manchester United wins

Erik ten Hag has received the Premier League Manager of the Month award for September.

Ten Hag presided over two league wins for Manchester United against Leicester and Arsenal while their domestic fixtures with Crystal Palace and Leeds United were postponed following the death of the Queen.

The award marks a double for United as Marcus Rashford was named the Player of the Month after scoring two goals and assisting two against Arsenal and Leicester.

Despite two disastrous defeats to Brighton and Brentford in his first two games as United manager, Ten Hag has overseen four successive league wins against Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester and Arsenal.

Although United's Europa League group stage campaign began with a 1-0 home defeat to Real Sociedad they won their next game against Moldovan side Sheriff.

Ten Hag will encounter his former Bayern Munich colleague Pep Guardiola in the Manchester derby at City on Sunday. Ten Hag was coach of Bayern Munich II when Guardiola was the club's first-team coach.

United have a packed October of nine fixtures in the run-up to the World Cup, which starts on November 20.

After the derby, United travel to Cyprus to play Omonia Nicosia in their third Europa League game, then face Everton at Goodison Park before three successive home games against Omonia, Newcastle and Tottenham.

United travel to Chelsea on October 22 and then host Sheriff and West Ham.
