Manchester United have drawn up a three-player shortlist of goalkeepers with the possibility of David de Gea leaving the club this summer increasing.
De Gea’s future at Old Trafford is in serious doubt; he is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and having turned down the club’s contract offer, there is now a big possibility that he leaves the club this summer.
The Spaniard has made multiple dreadful errors this campaign, including in United’s recent 1-0 defeat at West Ham in the Premier League while he was also at fault for Manchester City's winning goal in their FA Cup final triumph over United earlier this month.
De Gea signed a hefty deal in 2019 that made him not only the club's highest-paid player but also the Premier League's top earner on £375,000 per week. The goalkeeper accepts that at the age of 32, he cannot command the same type of money, but still wants an amount that reflects his value.
The Spaniard’s contractual situation is being monitored by Saudi Arabia and there is a possibility that he decides to move to the Middle East this summer. If he does remain at United, the club are offering no guarantees that he will stay as a starter and are actively pursuing a new goalkeeper.
A report in Sky Sports details that Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa heads the wanted list at United, who are also monitoring Inter shot-stopper Andre Onana and David Raya of Brentford. Raya is a major transfer target for Tottenham this summer to replace the outgoing Hugo Lloris.

Raya is available for a fee in the region of £40million, as he is out of contract next summer, while Onana – who United boss Erik ten Hag coached at Ajax – starring for Inter in their run to the Champions League final. Portugal international Costa is also well admired by United chiefs.
Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe are both leaving as free agents at the end of their respective contracts with further defenders set to depart, as Ten Hag continues his ruthless approach at the club and reshaping the squad to fit his demands.
Alex Telles and Eric Bailly, who are both returning from loan spells at Sevilla and Marseille respectively, will be made available for permanent exits. The futures of other high-earners, such as De Gea, Harry Maguire and Antony Martial, are also unclear. United will also listen to offers for Fred and Scott McTominay, although they would only be willing to allow one to depart this summer.
