Here are your Manchester United evening headlines for Friday, April 8:
Rangnick praises Ten Hag
Erik ten Hag looks to be edging nearer to taking over from Ralf Rangnick this summer, with United closing in on the Ajax boss. As reported by the Manchester Evening News this week, the Dutch champions expect Ten Hag to become the Reds’ new manager.
United interviewed the Dutchman two weeks ago, having made him their preferred candidate for the job. Although the club insist they have yet to finalise anything, they do intend to settle on their new manager before the end of the season.

Rangnick took the club line when asked about Ten Hag at his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Everton on Saturday. The interim boss though offer up some praise for his potential successor, calling him a “top coach”.
Four players out injured for Everton clash
United are in need of a victory on Saturday as they head to Goodison Park, with their top four hopes precariously poised. Having drawn with Leicester last weekend, they missed the chance to claw back some vital points in the hunt for that coveted Champions League spot.
They will be expected to bounce back as they face relegation-threatened Everton this weekend, although United have found ways to defy expectations in what has been a dismal season so far. And their cause on Merseyside hasn’t been helped by a raft of injuries ahead of tomorrow’s game.
Chief among their worries is Raphael Varane, with the injury-prone defender once again set to miss out. Rangnick will have to make other changes to his side, with another three players out injured.
