Roy Keane is no stranger to being sceptical when it comes to Manchester United in recent years.
In fairness, he has had every reason to be cautious as far as the Reds are concerned. Managers since Sir Alex Ferguson retired have failed to emulate the success that the legendary Scotsman achieved.
Although it is early days, United have shown under Erik ten Hag that there is more to them than what they showed as recently as October at the Etihad Stadium. Since returning from the World Cup break, the Reds have won all of their matches and the Dutch coach has experimented with his line-up during that spell.

The once undroppable Lisandro Martinez, has had to settle for a place on the bench while Luke Shaw has earned the plaudits at centre-back. Following the victory over Everton in the FA Cup last weekend, Keane was adamant that Shaw would not start at centre-back for the matches against tougher opponents.
Speaking to ITV Sport, the Irishman said: "If he [Dominic Calvert-Lewin] slows down there United get back so it’s a tight call, they’re a bit unlucky. But then again you saw the shortcomings there of Shaw - you can’t play Shaw as a centre half against any sort of decent striker. He’d be found out, we just saw it in those clips there."
Keane also said: "I think they’ve had some cushy games since the World Cup, certainly winnable, he’s been experimenting, playing Shaw centre half, but he won’t be playing Shaw at centre half against Man City or Arsenal, I can tell you that," he added.
However, not only did Shaw start in central defence, he also put in a brilliant performance against Manchester City's Erling Haaland who suffered an unusually quiet game. The 27-year-old justified his manager's faith in him at the weekend and once again looks to be a shoo-in for a start at Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
