Erik ten Hag caught shouting at Man Utd stars in training footage - "Too many mistakes!"

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been spotted pulling his players up on their mistakes during one of his first training sessions in charge.

The new boss, who arrived off the back of an Eredivisie title with Ajax, was confirmed as United's manager in April. The Dutchman has had a chance to look at the squad ahead of their upcoming pre-season friendlies, and he has wasted little time telling the players what they are doing wrong.

United finished sixth last season, falling well short of Champions League qualification. Ten Hag has already made his first signing, bringing in Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord, and the upcoming training sessions will allow current squad members to show the manager what they can offer.

In a training video uploaded by MUTV and shared on social media, United's players are embarking on drills where they pass to a receiving player's specific foot. However, after a number of players are seen passing to Anthony Elanga's left foot instead of his right, Ten Hag steps in.

United's coaches had attempted to correct the mistakes, with Steve McClaren particularly vocal. After the third occasion, though, Ten Hag can be heard saying "Hey, we are making too many mistakes!"

With less than a week until the first game of the pre-season tour, Ten Hag will hope to iron out the mistakes as quickly as possible. United are set to take on Liverpool in Thailand on July 12, with further matches in Australia, Norway and England in the following weeks.

Many of last season's squad were visible in the training session. As well as Elanga, the likes of Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford were getting involved in the drills as they look to impress Ten Hag.

Shaw already knows he will face competition for a starting spot at left-back thanks to the arrival of Dutch international Malacia. Further players are expected to follow, with a fee agreed for Malacia's international colleague Frenkie de Jong as the manager pushes for a reunion with the former Ajax star.

Perhaps the biggest question mark ahead of the new season concerns Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star finished the 2021-22 campaign as United's top scorer but has been absent from training for family reasons as speculation over a summer exit mounts.

Ronaldo has expressed a desire to leave the club as he aims to add more trophies to his collection. The 37-year-old hasn't won a league title in either of the last two seasons, while his most recent Champions League win came back in 2018 when he was still at Real Madrid.
