Erik ten Hag was forced to admit that he's got "a hell of a job" on his hands at Manchester United after his first official match in charge ended in a defeat.
The Red Devils lost 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Sunday, with a first-half double from Pascal Gross doing the damage. After a promising pre-season and more than £70million spend on three new signings, United put in a calamitous performance to get their new boss' tenure and their 2022-23 Premier League campaign off to the worst possible start, and Ten Hag already knows the size of the challenge that he'll face.
"It is a hell of a job. We have to work really hard, analyse then move forward," The ex- Ajax manager affirmed via BBC Sport. "Of course definitely a setback and real disappointment. I knew from the start it would not be easy. We gave two easy balls away and it was not good in the organisation."
