Erik ten Hag has admitted he “feels sorry” for Manchester United fans as he offered a scathing assessment of his side’s performance in their humiliating four-goal loss at Brentford.
United were left shell-shocked by four goals in 25 first half minutes from Josh Dasilva, Mathias Jensen, Ben Mee and Bryan Mbuemo as the Bees outclassed Ten Hag’s hapless side, who have now lost each of their opening Premier League matches this campaign.
Brentford's players were able to out work United, who continued to contribute to their own downfall as familiar flaws were exposed once ore. David de Gea's error allowed the hosts to take the lead and the goalkeeper playing out then allowed the Bees to double their lead. It leaves Ten Hag with a team bereft of confidence.
