Eric Dier delivers honest verdict on Arsenal amid Tottenham's top-four race

Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has sent Arsenal a defiant message as the two north London clubs battle it out for a place in next season's UEFA Champions League.

Spurs were considered by many as favourites to finish four after the Gunners lost three consecutive Premier League games, losing to Crystal Palace, Brighton and Southampton. However, Mikel Arteta has since steadied the ship and guided his side to back-to-back victories against Chelsea and Manchester United.

Comparatively, the Lillywhites have recorded just one point from their last two league outings, losing to the Seagulls before drawing 0-0 against Brentford on Saturday evening. Still, England international Dier is refusing to rule anything out just yet.

“No, we know what’s at stake", the former Sporting Lisbon centre-half replied when asked if Arsenal’s two wins had put the pressure on Antonio Conte and Co. "I said last week, in three games a lot can change.

"We’ve got to focus on ourselves, put the blinkers on and try to win all our games. Today’s a hiccup, but we’ve got no time to feel sorry for ourselves.

"It’s still in our hands because we still have to play them. But, there’s a lot of football before that.

"We’ve just got to figure out why we’ve performed the way we have and try to change that.” Tottenham host Leicester City to N17 next Sunday whilst Arsenal play West Ham United in east London, although the match is sandwiched between the Hammers' two Europa League semi-finals, something that could potentially benefit the visitors.
