When looking for a new home there are many things to consider: location, schools, maybe even the size of a garden. However, according to new research, unless you have a high energy performance rating (EPC), your house is instantly less admirable to buyers.
According to the new research from Mortgage Advice Bureau, a fifth of Brits (19%) wouldn’t consider a house with an EPC of below grade C, and 46% of potential buyers would rather have good insulation over a bigger garden (29%).
With many paying closer attention to how much it costs to heat a home, buyers and owners alike are increasingly looking for ways to reduce energy bills, with this serving as a key reason as to why many would only consider a higher EPC rated house.
