Chelsea's £105million pursuit of Enzo Fernandez is going the distance of the January transfer window.
The Blues remain in extensive talks with Benfica in the final couple of hours of the January transfer window and remain at a disagreement at the structure of the payment. The Portuguese side want the player's release clause paid in full but Chelsea are keen to spread the fee across a number of instalments.
Should Boehly get his man then Fernandez would become the most expensive player in Chelsea history, eclipsing the £97.5million paid for Romelu Lukaku in 2021. It was also the £100million Manchester City paid for Jack Grealish in 2021 as the Premier League's most-costly arrival.
