Enzo Fernandez's squad number appears to have been leaked ahead of his official unveiling as a Chelsea player. The 22-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge throughout January as Graham Potter looked to bolster his midfield.
football.london understands that Fernandez was identified as the Blues' primary target and, in order to secure his signature before the deadline, higher-ups at the club held extensive talks with Benfica. Successful in their mission, Chelsea will pay the Portuguese giants £106.7million fee in six instalments, the first of which is thought to be around £30m.
The Argentina international has signed an eight-and-a-half-year contract at Stamford Bridge, becoming the most expensive player in the club's history. The west Londoners have officially announced Fernandez's move but they're yet to reveal which number he will wear.
