The GloucestershireLive Apprenticeship Awards are back for 2022, and we’re looking for entries from the best apprentices the county has to offer. The awards are a celebration of the brightest learners across Gloucestershire as well as the organisations helping them succeed.
GloucestershireLive, which is running the event in association with BusinessLive, wants to hear from the county's top apprentices - and the employers helping them succeed.
The awards recognise excellence across a wide range of sectors, with the overall GloucestershireLive Apprentice of the Year selected from all the winners on the night of the event. An award for Outstanding Contribution to Apprenticeships in Gloucestershire will also be presented at the ceremony, which takes place on Thursday, September 22, at Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester.
Renishaw, which is sponsoring the Employer of the Year category for 2022, has had a record 80 people join its apprenticeship schemes this year, and a total of 240 employees are currently undertaking an apprenticeship at the company.
“Apprentices futureproof the workforce, which is why Renishaw has invested so heavily in our early careers programmes since 1979,” said Chris Pockett, head of communications at Renishaw.
“We are therefore very pleased to continue our longstanding support of the Gloucestershire Apprenticeship Awards which help promote the benefits of apprenticeship schemes, help to recognise companies and training providers who are similarly passionate about giving rigorous training to apprentices, and to applaud the efforts of apprentices who are making the most of their opportunities.”
SGS College is sponsoring the Outstanding Apprentice of the Year (Construction) category at the awards. Sarah Stephens-Lewis, head of faculty for apprenticeship provision at SGS College, said: “Apprenticeships help to develop skills, knowledge and behaviours for the individual as well as the workforce. They provide people with fantastic opportunities, encourage innovation and upskill organisations to meet the demands of tomorrow.
“Apprenticeships give aspiring and talented individuals high-quality education and real-world experience allowing them to gain valuable experience whilst supporting skills gaps within an organisation."
She added: “Celebrating the achievement of these exceptional individuals through the GloucestershireLive Apprenticeship Awards is vital in recognising their contribution to our workforce, both today and tomorrow.”
Entries for the awards are open until June 27. To submit a nomination and to find out more about entry requirements, visit the event's official website.
