Enoch Burke Valentine's Day card becomes 'Ireland's bestseller' thanks to cheeky caption

A Valentine's Day card featuring Enoch Burke has become a best seller thanks to its cheeky caption.

The dismissed teacher has been making national headlines in recent weeks due to a high-profile standoff with his old school.

Mr Burke and the school have been engaged in a court battle after he claims he was wrongfully suspended, before being dismissed from his job last week, and his constitutional rights breached over his objections to referring to a student at the school who wishes to transition as a they rather than a 'he.'

The school suspended, and the following a disciplinary process purportedly dismissed the teacher, due to alleged misconduct.

Arising out of his refusal to comply with a High Court order granted last September, Mr Burke was jailed for 108 days for contempt. However, he has continued to attend at the school's campus - which has resulted in a meme that has went viral.

A picture of Mayo man Mr Burke standing outside the school quickly gained traction. It has since been immortalised on a card for the most romantic day of the year, Galway Beo reports.

The card shows the picture of Mr Burke outside the school with the caption: “I’ll never ever ever ever ever leave you”.

Aran Freeman, an operations manager for PalPack, an online gift shop that created the cards, said it was receiving orders for the card every 15 seconds during peak sale times.

“It’s the bestseller without a doubt — we’ve sold thousands of them so far,” Freeman told The Times.

“We’ve been blown away by the reaction. A good few of us will be working over the weekend with the orders we’re getting for the Enoch card. The website almost went down a couple of times — it’s been crazy.”

The card is priced at €3.95, or €4.95 with a personal message.
