Enniskillen gift card racks up £435,000 for local businesses as BID launches new business plan

An Enniskillen gift card launched by the town’s Business Improvement District (BID) initiative has chalked up more than £435,000 in sales for local businesses since 2017.

The figure was released as the group aims to secure the support of local businesses for a new five year relationship with the town.

More than 130 businesses have registered for the Enniskillen gift card, while the group said it is aiming to bring the total sales to £1million over the next five years.

Enniskillen BID has also been involved in a number of other local projects to drive business activity in the town, including the upcoming Live at the Castle festival as well as several murals.

Now the groups’ directors are calling on local businesses to back their plan for improving the district’s activity over the next five years.

“Our business plan for 2022-2027 celebrates our many successes but I really feel like BID has just got started,” manager Noelle McAoon said.

“We have more engagement from the businesses and their ideas are coming to life as we can initiate projects and make a difference.

“Enniskillen BID exists to support businesses in a flexible and relevant way. The business plan considers the severe difficulties faced by local businesses and puts in place a plan to address, overcome and grow because of that.

The business plan has been backed by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, with companies in the town having been issued the plan and voting papers on it.

BID chair Pat Blake said the group had invested more than £1millon in the town in the last five years and encouraged businesses to get involved again.

“I am delighted to present this proposal to set out how we intend to work for, represent and support all of our local businesses over the next 5 year period,” Pat said.

“It’s an exciting time, with the £1million investment from BID , the opportunities for funding that BID can bring and the Gift Card sales of a potential £1million.”
