Enniskillen cafe owner dedicates award to mum after picking up Fermanagh’s favourite cafe

The owner of Fermanagh’s favourite cafe as voted for by MyFermanagh readers has dedicated the award to her mum who passed away earlier this year.

Carina Cutler was speaking as she picked up a framed certificate this week after the Jolly Sandwich Bar in the town scooped the most votes in the campaign.

Carina had taken over the running of the popular cafe from her mum Hazel Johnston, who sadly died in February of this year following an illness. The family run business had originally been set up in Townhall Street then moving up the town to Darling Street in 1999.

Speaking to MyFermanagh , Carina said receiving awards was something that made her mum very proud, and added it was a tradition they hope to continue in her honour.

“Mum was so engrossed in getting awards and she put so much emphasis on making sure they were shown throughout the shop,” Carina said.

“It’s very important for us to keep that tradition going and try to make her as proud as we can.

“She would have loved to be here receiving this today. She loved winning things like this because everyone puts so much hard work into this place.”

Carina said that the whole team were delighted to see the response from the local community who came out to vote for the Jolly Sandwich.

“We saw through social media the competition was running and all the likes and shares we were getting from people.

“People were really engaged in it and we got a great reaction to our own social pages.

“We appreciate the fact it was our local customers who voted for us. It means so much that people would take the time to think of us.

“It’s all down to the hard work, the fresh food and the smiling faces. We have a lovely warm atmosphere in the shop and it’s great to see that recognised.”
