Enner Valencia's goal celebration explained after Ecuador World Cup equaliser vs Netherlands

Former West Ham and Everton striker Enner Valencia scored a crucial equaliser for Ecuador against the Netherlands.

Valencia is one of the top scorers at the World Cup having now scored three goals in two matches for his country. The Ecuadorian striker currently plays for Fenerbache in Turkey but his current contract is set to expire next summer.

The 33-year-old has enjoyed a strong season for the Turkish outfit having scored 15 goals and provided a further four assists in 22 appearances. Valencia has been one of the standout performers in the tournament in Qatar as he aims to help his nation qualify from Group A.

After scoring an equaliser against Louis van Gaal's side in the second half, Valencia celebrated in front of the TV cameras by gesturing himself signing a contract with a pen, hinting that he wants clubs to look at signing him in the January transfer window. His form for Ecuador at the World Cup will have caught the eye so far and could see the 33-year-old find another club in the new year if he keeps up his goalscoring record at the tournament.

Ecuador have been the better side in the second half and could look to cause a major upset which would see them move top of Group A ahead of the Netherlands. Valencia will be crucial to any success the South Americans have in Qatar and may be putting himself in the shop window with his impressive performances in front of goal.
