England Women's Euro 2022 squad: Final 23 player line-up eyeing glory

England have successfully navigated their way to the semi-finals of the UEFA Women's Euros 2022 and they have built one of the most dangerous squads in the world in recent years.

The presence of players such as Beth Mead, who is the tournament's leading scorer (5) and joint leading assist maker (3) has brought the Lionesses through as one of the favourites to win the competition.

Sarina Wiegman has built on her Euros winning success with the Netherlands in 2017 in order to create a squad which can withstand extreme pressure. This was showcased by her substitutions which brought England back into the game when trailing to Spain last week in the quarter finals.

Players such as Ella Toone, who was brought off the bench to net an 84th minute winner for Wiegman and her Lionesses show just what strength there is in the England ranks, justifying their role as one of the tournament favourites. However, they face the prospect of facing an equally star studded side should they reach the final, with France and Germany both exceptional squads.

But who has been part of England's Women's Euro 2022 squad?

There is no Steph Houghton at this tournament, with the 34-year-old missing out on selection due to a lack of form and fitness. Arsenal's Leah Williamson has skippered the side in Houghton's absence, while Fran Kirby has been an ever-present in the starting line-up despite saying back in April she was taking a break from football due to fatigue.

Weigman also selected new Barcelona signing Lucy Bronze, while returning stars such as Nikita Parris, Ellen White and Jill Scott are littered around the squad adding experience to the team.
