England vs Wales player ratings as Marcus Rashford brilliant and Phil Foden shines

England are through to the knockout stages in Qatar as Group B winners following their 3-0 victory over Wales at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium tonight. Marcus Rashford (2) and Phil Foden grabbed the goals as England revived their World Cup ambitions in compelling fashion.

Manchester United were represented by Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw from the start, while Rashford also featured in the XI following his recent cameos from the subs bench. Kyle Walker and John Stones from Manchester City were joined by Foden, too, as he was among four changes made to the England team pre-match.

It meant that there was a heavy Manchester-based contingent with no fewer than six players starting. Here is how the Three Lions rated for their displays at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium.

READ MORE: Highlights from England vs Wales

Jordan Pickford: Could have taken his place alongside the England supporters barring one moment where Allen fired over on the follow-up from a corner and a good save from a Harry Maguire deflection. 6/10

Kyle Walker: Returned to the side following a pre-World Cup injury scare and kept tabs on speedster Dan James with no real problems defensively, or fitness-wise, which is a bonus. 6/10

John Stones: Dealt with Kieffer Moore and his colleagues comfortably throughout the Group B derby meeting and was able to set the tone in playing out from the back. 7/10

Harry Maguire: Picked up where he left off defensively against the United States but, on this occasion, was a bit off-radar with his long-range passing. 6/10

Luke Shaw: Relatively untroubled throughout the 90 minutes before he was handed some rest time when Kieran Trippier replaced him for the closing stages. 6/10

Declan Rice: Another man who improved from the United States game and kept things ticking over neatly in the middle third before his withdrawal. 6/10

Jordan Henderson: Added experience to the engine room alongside Rice and was a vocal presence. Could he now be in to start more for England moving forward in the tournament? 7/10

Jude Bellingham: Henderson playing gave him added freedom in the number ten role which he displayed excellently in linking up with Foden for his first-half chance to break the deadlock. He will be fundamental for England should they go all the way. 7/10

Phil Foden: Finally handed his World Cup opportunity. Showed glimpses of his immense talent and burst into life with a quickfire second upon the restart 8/10

Marcus Rashford: Among four changes to the England starting line-up and passed up one early chance before he made amends in true style with a match-winning double 9/10

Harry Kane: Retained despite question marks over his fitness. He seemed brighter and made a telling contribution when providing an assist for Foden. 7/10

From the bench;

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Walker 57): Found little to keep him occupied. 6/10

Kalvin Phillips (Rice 57): Showed his passing range upon his return from injury and bagged himself an assist. 7/10

Callum Wilson (Kane 57): Proved an able stand-in for Kane and went close. 7/10

Kieran Trippier (Shaw 65): Similarly to Alexander-Arnold, he had little to do defensively. 6/10

Jack Grealish (Rashford 75): Wanted to link-up with Bellingham during his cameo. 6/10
