Jude Bellingham is both blessing and curse for England. Since the opening 45 minutes of Euro 2024, the Real Madrid midfielder has struggled for rhythm and caused problems for the Three Lions as a unit. Then he goes and scores a last-gasp overhead kick against Slovakia to force extra time, with Harry Kane bagging the winner soon after. Will a new back-three finally improve matters in Gareth Southgate's 100th game in charge?
Switzerland, meanwhile, barely gave defending champions Italy a sniff in their last-16 fixture, Remo Freuler and Ruben Vargas scoring the goals Murat Yakin's side fully merited. Their last victory over England came in May 1981, a sole win in 77 years and 24 attempts – they may never have a better chance of putting that right. It's grade against form, this one.

How to watch England vs Switzerland for FREE in the UK
Use a VPN to watch FREE from anywhere
England vs Switzerland is free on BBC One/BBC iPlayer for viewers in the UK. Outside the UK? No problem. If you're travelling away from home and want to tune into BBC iPlayer as normal, you can use a VPN so that you don't get blocked by the broadcaster.
A Virtual Private Network (VPN), assuming it complies with your broadcaster’s T&Cs, creates a private connection between your device and t'internet, meaning the service can’t work out where you are and will let you watch. And all the info going between is entirely encrypted, anonymous and safe – and that's a result.
There are plenty of good-value options out there but, for Euro 2024, FourFourTwo recommends:
NordVPN is basically a tap-in:
1. Install it: NordVPN
2. Fire it up and choose your service. So, if you want to watch a UK streaming service, choose the UK server.
3. Enjoy the game. Open up BBC iPlayer and watch the stream.
England vs Switzerland live stream: team news
England seem likely to revert to a back three, with the excellent Marc Guehi suspended for yellow card accumulation. Ezri Konsa will come and join John Stones and Kyle Walker in that new defence. Kieran Trippier or Trent Alexander-Arnold will be right-wing-back and Bukayo Saka accommodated on the left.
Ivan Toney impressed off the bench against Slovakia but may not start. Cole Palmer is again in line from the off.
Switzerland have a clean bill of health and suspension, with Silvan Widmer back from his ban, though he may not dislodge Dan Ndoye who impressed in his stead. Fabian Rieder, the wing-back, could instead come out.
Granit Xhaka will come up against his replacement in the Arsenal midfield, Declan Rice, while Yakin must decide whether Breel Embolo starts again up front.
