England host Scotland tonight at the Stadium of Light as both nations play in the Women’s Nations League for the first time.
Belgium and the Netherlands are also in Group A1, with this competition used as qualification for next summer’s Olympics.
While both English and Scottish players would be involved for Team GB, who would be managed by Sarina Wiegman, it is the Lionesses’ results that will determine whether a spot in Paris is earned. Should England top this group and then make it to the Nations League final, that would be enough for Olympic qualification.
That will not be in Scotland’s mind for now though, as they look for victory over England in Sunderland. This is the Lionesses’ first fixture since their World Cup final defeat to Spain.
