- Andy Flower has officially withdrawn his name from consideration to become England’s next Test head coach , following direct discussions with England and Wales Cricket Board managing director Rob Key.
- Flower, who previously guided England to three Ashes series victories during his tenure between 2009 and 2014, had emerged as a leading candidate to replace Brendon McCullum , who departed the red-ball role last weekend.
- Flower’s decision is primarily due to significant scheduling conflicts arising from his current coaching commitments with Indian Premier League outfit Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Hundred side London Spirit.
- Flower stated he is very happy with his current roles and comfortable with his existing commitments, despite acknowledging the privilege of the England Test coach position.
- England must now continue their search for a successor to McCullum, as they aim to make an appointment before their three-match series against Pakistan commences on 19 August.
