Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount will not join up with the England squad for the forthcoming European Championship qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine due to injury.
An ongoing pelvic issue has kept the 23-year-old out of Chelsea's previous four matches, although Mount was also suspended for the Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund at Stamford Bridge.
Mount was, however, still named by Gareth Southgate in the 25-man squad for England's upcoming matches. That came as a surprise to Chelsea head coach Graham Potter, who ruled the Chelsea academy graduate out of the Three Lions squad last Friday.

"I'm not aware [of any setback for Mount]; he's never been available as far as I'm aware," Potter explained on Friday. "Yes [I was surprised to see him named]. Probably, as a club we will seek clarity about why he was. He needed a bit of time for his injury to settle down, which pretty much ruled him out of the England thing.
"Whether that means they needed a bit of time to double-check that, I don't know. But I don't think there's anything untoward at all. It's more that sometimes these things can be named but there are still a couple of days when things can be changed. But as far as I was aware, from my selection perspective, he was unavailable for the weekend [against Everton]."
Raheem Sterling will also not be in action for England during the international break as the winger looks to recover from a hamstring injury that forced him to miss the victory over Leicester City and the draw against Everton on Saturday.
Chelsea do, though, have a trio of players who could feature for England over the next ten days with Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Conor Gallagher all called up by Southgate.
