England all-rounder Charlie Dean has poked fun at her controversial Mankad dismissal against India at Lord's after teasing doing the same in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy final.
In a low scoring game, Dean almost earned England a stunning win after taking them within 17 runs of victory. After the top order failed, Dean batted brilliantly as she made 47 and the game looked set for a dramatic finish with England having just one wicket in hand.
However, Dean was Mankaded - run out at the non-strikers end - by Deepti Sharma as India sealed the win in controversial fashion. The 21-year-old was left in tears after the dismissal and was comforted by batting partner Freya Davies.
While Mankading is a legal dismissal, many within cricket believe it is against the spirit of the game and the likes of James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Sam Billings criticised the move.
Dean was back in action at Lord's just a day later, representing Southern Vipers in the show-piece Rachael Heyhoe Flint 50-over final against Northern Diamonds.
And she faked doing a Mankad herself, stopping as she ran up to bowl to Lauren Winfield-Hill and teasing running out non-striker Linsey Smith, with the moment earning cheers and applause from those in attendance.
A clip of the moment was tweeted out by former Leicestershire bowler and cricket commentator Charles Dagnall, who wrote: "Charlie Dean today. Brought a smile to the face this did."
And her England teammates were quick to praise her on social media, with Davies tweeting: "Well played Deano". "What a woman," added England seamer Kate Cross. While all-rounder Alice Capsey simply wrote: "DEANO!!!! Legend". Opener Emma Lamb added: "So good".
Dean was named England's ODI Women's Player of the Summer, having picked up 11 wickets at an average of 25.09 and scored 108 runs at 36 in six appearances.
